newsRiver 0.23 has support for the Aggregator API

For background, read this post on Scripting News today.

All the parts for this feature have been checked in. Of course since it's an API there's not much in the way of a user interface. The whole point is to make it possible for developers to create new user interfaces.

By default, the API is not turned on. You must visit the new prefs panel, to enable the API and to choose a username and password. Any application that builds on this API will need to configured with these two bits of information.

Developer docs for the API are next on my todo list.

How to update

1. Choose Update opml.root from the File menu.

2. Choose Get Latest Code from the NewsRiver sub-menu of the Tools menu.

3. The downloadable newsRiver.root has been updated if you have trouble in step 2. Follow the instructions here for installing.
