NewsRiver 0.30 supports Reading ListsReading lists in NewsRiverA reading list is an OPML document that contains a list of feeds. The NewsRiver aggregator, which runs as a Tool inside the OPML Editor, has been extended so that users can subscribe to reading lists. When the editor of a reading list adds a feed, subscribers to the list will automatically read that feed in every scan. Likewise, when a feed is removed, it will no longer be read in a scan. It's a way for readers to delegate the act of subscribing to experts in subjects they are interested in.How to updateTo get the update, if you already have newsRiver.root installed, choose Get Latest Code from the NewsRiver sub-menu of the Tools menu. The fresh download has been updated to 0.30 as well.
How to useBy design, reading lists work the same way feeds do.1. To subscribe to a reading list, copy the address of the OPML file to the clipboard, then load the Subscriptions page. Paste the address into the URL field near the top of the page, and click on the Add button. It may take a minute or more to read each of the feeds in the OPML file. Screen shot. 2. To unsubscribe from a reading list, click the checkbox next to its name on the Subscriptions page, scroll to the bottom and click on the Unsubscribe button. I'm maintaining a sub-directory of reading lists you can subscribe to in the OPML Docs directory, linked into the right margin of this page. Note: The link to the Subscriptions page, above, will only work if you have the OPML Editor running on your system. It's a desktop web server. You can access the Subscriptions page by choosing View Subscriptions from the NewsRiver sub-menu of the Tools menu.
