A small nice-to-have feature for NewsRiverIf you look in the right margin of this page, you'll see an icon just below the white-on-orange XML icon that has a picture of a coffee cup with a cactus on it. If you have Radio 8 running on your machine and click on the icon, you'll subscribe to the feed for this site. What if you're running NewsRiver in the OPML Editor? Now the icon works there too.First you have to choose Get Latest Code from the NewsRiver sub-menu of the Tools menu. Then wait about a minute before clicking on the icon (the handler is installed at the top of the minute). The OPML Editor should come to the front and confirms that you want to subscribe to the feed for this site. Click on OK to subscribe. PS: It works for subscribing to OPML reading lists as well. # Posted by Dave Winer on 1/22/06; 10:16:53 AM - -- wordPress.root 0.4 supports TypePadwordPress.root is a Tool that runs in the OPML Editor that makes it easy to create and edit weblog posts in an outliner.Early versions of wordPress.root worked well with wordpress.com sites, hence the name, but our goal over time is to expand support for other weblog environments. Thanks to SixApart for help getting it to work with TypePad. It almost certainly works with Movable Type now as well (I haven't tested it myself) and probably with most other weblog tools, thanks to the magic of Daniel Berlinger's Really Simple Discoverability protocol, which, it turns out, is widely supported in the blogging world. Once again the power of simplicity and homegrown de facto standards make the difference. Great work everybody!
How toI've changed the way you configure wordPress.root and have updated the docs accordingly. The Get Categories command doesn't work with SixApart sites, apparently because the server doesn't support the call.
